Baby monitor apps in 2026: 10 apps and 5 camera systems
Reviewed September 16, 2026. Pevu is our own app and is preparing for release. This comparison uses official product documentation and pricing pages. It is not an independent laboratory test or a market-share ranking. An undocumented feature is not treated as a proven benefit or a proven absence.
Start with the equipment you already have. Two spare phones need a phone-to-phone app. A permanent installation with a dedicated camera may suit a hardware system. Then compare connectivity, ongoing costs and the behavior of alerts on your actual devices.
Ten apps for existing phones
The product links below lead to official information. Check minimum operating-system versions, mixed-platform compatibility and whether purchases carry between platforms.
| App | Devices | Use and limits | Payment model |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pevu | iOS / Android | Local audio without an account; video and up to four baby units with Pevu Full. Preparing for release. | Planned: free audio for one baby unit; Full subscription or one-time purchase. |
| Annie Baby Monitor | iOS / Android | Video, remote viewing and extras; check device support and the required plan. | Subscription or lifetime purchase. |
| Bibino | iOS / Android / Windows / macOS | Remote monitoring across several platforms; free features are limited. | Free tier and Premium subscription. |
| Baby Monitor 3G | iOS / Android / macOS | Audio and video over Wi-Fi or mobile networks; do not assume offline support. | One-time purchase, potentially for each platform. |
| Cloud Baby Monitor | iOS / Android / macOS | Local Wi-Fi works without internet; optional remote access. Android is supported too. | One-time purchase per platform. |
| Dormi | Android | Android devices over Wi-Fi, mobile data, hotspots or Wi-Fi Direct. | Four free hours monthly; subscription or lifetime. |
| Luna | iOS / iPadOS | iPhone and iPad; internet required, no separate Luna account. | Limited free sessions; annual Premium subscription. |
| Saby | iOS / Android | Audio, video and advertised cry recognition over Wi-Fi/mobile data; test detection yourself. | Trial and renewing subscription; check store terms. |
| BabyCam (Arjona Software) | Android | Two Android devices on the same Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct; no registration. | Advertising; in-app purchase to remove ads. |
| AlfredCamera | iOS / Android / Web | General security-camera app; both devices need internet. Test background audio and connection warnings. | Free tier and paid plans. |
Choosing a shortlist
Two Android devices and local monitoring: Dormi and BabyCam are worth checking. Their documented connection options show that local monitoring is not unique to Pevu. Dormi provides four free hours per month; BabyCam uses the same Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct.
Apple, Android or several device types: Cloud Baby Monitor, Baby Monitor 3G, Annie and Bibino belong on the shortlist. Cloud Baby Monitor explicitly supports Android and local Wi-Fi without internet. A one-time purchase can still mean separate purchases on different platforms.
Remote viewing and recordings: Compare the required Annie, Bibino or Saby plans. AlfredCamera adds a general security-camera option, but motion detection alone does not establish suitable baby-monitor behavior. Test continuous audio, background use and connection-loss warnings.
An iPhone/iPad household: Luna is another option. Its current documentation says it requires internet and offers limited free sessions plus an annual Premium subscription. Do not rely on older articles describing an unrestricted free service or a universal one-time purchase.
Five established camera ecosystems
These apps work with matching camera hardware. Installing the companion app does not turn an old phone into that camera. This comparison covers camera monitoring, not medical sensors or health claims.
| System | What it offers | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Nanit | Nanit camera and app, with optional sleep analysis. | Core monitoring works without Insights; history and analytics depend on the plan. |
| Owlet Dream Sight | Dedicated night-vision camera and Owlet Dream App for iOS/Android. | Dream Sight and Dream Sock are separate products; compare camera and subscription separately. |
| CuboAi | Dedicated camera, events and sleep reports. | Model and CuboAi Care plan determine extras; check included service duration. |
| Philips Avent Connected / Baby Monitor+ | Connected models with a baby camera; SCD923 includes a parent unit and Baby Monitor+ access. | Check the exact model: not every Avent monitor includes the same app or screen. |
| Hubble Connected / HubbleClub | Camera systems with live viewing and model-specific extras. | Match camera, app and membership; older Hubble offers and HubbleClub differ. |
Nanit documents useful core features without an Insights subscription. For CuboAi, check what remains after the included service period: its Care terms assign a subscription to an individual camera. Owlet Dream Sight is a camera; Dream Sock is a separate product. With Philips Avent, the model number matters. With Hubble, check that the pricing page actually applies to the camera and app in your bundle.
A dedicated camera can be convenient for a permanent setup and night vision. An app can reduce the initial hardware bill when suitable phones already exist. Neither category is automatically cheaper over your intended period of use.
Current price examples, with market context
Checked September 16, 2026. These are published examples, not converted prices or promises for your local store.
| Offer | Published example | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Annie | US iOS: USD 12.99/month, 64.99/year or 149.99 lifetime | Check trial and renewal terms. |
| Bibino Premium | USD 5.99/month or 39.99/year on its English pricing page | Free functionality is more limited. |
| Dormi | EUR examples: €1.99/month, €9.99/year or €16.99 lifetime | Four free hours monthly; country prices can differ. |
| AlfredCamera Standard | US examples starting at USD 5.99/month or 35.99/year | Region and plan matter. |
Compare the plan you would actually buy. Two annual renewals cost twice the annual price, not 24 monthly payments. Include extra platform purchases, mounts, cameras and the features available after a trial. For Luna, Saby and camera bundles, the current purchase screen is more useful than an unqualified global price.
Where Pevu fits
Pevu is designed for local monitoring on a shared Wi-Fi network without a streaming account. Audio for one baby unit is planned to be free. Pevu Full adds video and additional baby units, up to four in total. Planned prices are €3.99/month, €19.99/year or €39.99 once; these are planned Pevu prices, not verified live store offers.
The baby device starts with audio; video is enabled from the parent device. Pevu does not provide internet remote viewing. The current guide also explains limitations: calls, power management, Wi-Fi loss and system settings can affect sound or alerts. A green status is not a guarantee against failure.
Five checks before a longer session
- Compatibility: check both operating systems, required purchases and available updates.
- Real location: test sound and video where the baby unit and parent device will actually be used.
- Background behavior: lock the parent screen, open another app and test a call; then check audio and status.
- Connection loss: with a caregiver present, disconnect the baby unit and observe the warning and reconnection.
- Free limits: verify session length, monthly allowance, renewal and what stops working without payment.
Remote viewing does not replace an on-site caregiver. Our offline guide, battery test and setup checklist explain the practical checks.
Frequently asked questions
